From Saturday 9th to Wednesday February 13th, the 6th grade students took part in the Annual Graduation School Trip to Kyushu. The trip covered Kagoshima, Kumamoto, Saga and finally Nagasaki. It certainly was an action packed and fun few days that gave the students ample time to learn about Southern Japan and bond with each other before the upcoming graduation.

After arriving in Kagoshima, the students saw the famous volcano Sakurajima, sampled the local Kagoshima food and were able to visit many museums. A particular highlight was learning about the Kamikaze pilots who died during the war at the Peace museum. On day two the students took a long bus ride to Kumamoto city and were able to tour the grounds of historic Kumamoto castle with some students climbing to the very top of the castle. On the third day, we went to Yoshinogari park in Saga prefecture, where they saw what life was like in Yayoi-era Japan including houses, clothes and genuine burial sites. The students then spent the last 2 days in Nagasaki, staying at the luxurious Best Western Hotel. Students took part in stained glass manufacturing at the Rurian Glass Workshop. They then toured the Peace Park, Atomic Bomb Museum, Glover Gardens and Dejima. Whilst it was an exhausting few days, all students enjoyed themselves thoroughly and were able to make some great memories to end their time at Gyosei Elementary School.
