On March 23, 2013 Takumi Kai from the grade 3 international course represented our school in the fourth annual Japan Times Spelling Bee. Takumi first won his homeroom spelling bee and then went on to win the school wide spelling bee and the privilege to be our representative.
43 students aged 9 to 13 from schools all across the country gathered together at the Nifco Hall in the Japan times building to compete for the privilege to represent Japan in Washington DC. Although Takumi was nervous, he performed very well under the pressure and it was a wonderful experience for both him and the school. Even though he did not win this year we are very proud of his efforts and hope that he continues to challenge this and many other things.
